I recently purchased a damaged 2nd Gen iPod 8g on eBay. It came with a cracked digitizer and wouldn't turn on. After updating and restoring with iTunes I just get the 'White Screen of Death'. I'm new to iPods and am not familiar with the hardware involved. Is there a hard-drive in these devices and should I be able to hear it or feel it working when I power on the iPod? It won't go past the white screen so I don't know if it's booting or not. iTunes recognizes the device when I plug it into computer and it will restore and update it. I've tried soft and hard reset and jailbreaking but it doesn't seem to do anything. Any advice would be welcome.
