Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I just got my first ipod, the 3rd gen ipod touch. I got the 32 GB version. Now the interesting part is that I have two apple TVs to stream my DVD collection around the house. I was under the impression that you needed to re-rip the DVDs (in ipod/iphone resolution) to sync any of those movies to the ipod touch. But now you don't! The iphone 3GS and the new ipod touch (32 and 64GB versions) can now play the apple TV preset. So, no need to re-rip or have two versions of the same movie on your Hard drive. One file... plays on every device you have... so nice.

One hiccup... you have to use Handbrake 0.9.3. Older rips won't sync.

But...

How does the universal setting look on a 46" TV? I'm sure there are trade offs to that setting. With the apple TV setting you get the best possible DVD rip on the apple TV and you can view it on your ipod. No need to compromise.

Looks just like the dvd on my 50" Plasma tv.
