I was playing Archtype on my iPod Touch 4th gen for about five minutes, then when I exited I noticed the top part of my ipod (on the back around the middle close to the camera) was really hot. Is this bad? Can it overheat and break the device somehow?

Just wondering if there is anything I should know like if it has an overheating issue since it's brand new.

Doesn't that happen with all Touches? Whenever I watch a movie or ply a 3-D games, the bottom left of my 3G Touch heats up.

Hmm I never noticed that so I was worried since this is a brand new product.

Off-topic: If your iPod has a light leak (A slit where you can see lights from the inside) should you get it replaced? My new 4th gen has one but it doesn't bother me so I'm wondering if I should go back to Best Buy and get a replacement.

Yep, you can get it replaced, there is another thread a few down from this one addressing this issue.

If it overheats, it will tell you and if it does, don't worry Apple had that in mind and made the chips able to withstand much higher temperatures then what triggers the overheat screen.

I'm not trying to flame but I have an XBox 360 so I worry about product heat much more these days. But it's good to know this thing can withstand some real heat.

The Xbox 360 was comically badly made. I've had my Xbox replaced four times. If the new iPods overheat like the 360 did, we'll hear about it! :p

Ditto...Im on my 5th 360 (now a slim).

Also Apple products tend to get pretty hot...my macbook pro GPU (9600) gets up to 101 degrees when playing a game...by copmarison my PC GPU (9800 GT) rarely breaks 80 degrees and both have a max operating temp of 105.

I overheated my i-touch and my lcd screen just stopped working. i realised that when i pressed on the top left corner, the colours just swirled around 'cause something had melted inside.
