iPod touch iPod acting weird after a restore

i restored my ipod touch after it had a mental break-down. Now my name is where "iPod" is suppose to be and mail doesn't work it crashes after i hit the icon. i had jailboken it and stored it from the back up so is that the problem? do i ned to restore it to a new iPod?
