Can anyone please confirm the following information:

During the Keynote Steve Jobs said iTunes sales already passed the 2 billon threshold.

In addition he said Apple sold 100 million iPod this year.

I don't really trust the second information.

I would trust it if Steve said it. But I don't remember it in the keynote...I'll check.

I found the following numbers:

Total iPod sales untill the end of Sept 05: over 28 million

iPod sales Oct - Dec 05: 14 million
iPod sales Jan - March 06: 8.5 million
iPod sales April - June 06: 8.1 million
iPod sales July - Sept 06: 8.7 million

Total iPod sales untill the end of Sept 06: around 68 million

I assume Steve Jobs said that Apple sold 100 million iPods since its introduction in 2001. But that would mean they sold over 30 million units in the holiday quarter. And this would be huge. Absolutely huge. :D

This would double the record sales of last years holiday quarter. But I'm still not sure if it's true.

Now that I finaly have been able to see the Keynote myself, I saw that I made a mistake.

At around 36:40 min of the Quicktime stream, Steve Jobs says: "We're gonna ship our 100 millionth iPod this year."

This shows that the iPod sales are great. But the prediction is not revolutionary. We are expecting Apple to reach that target anyway. :)
