iPod as Hard drive?

My 10gb iPod arrived this morning - yay! However, being a moron, I can't figure out the most basic of questions.

How do I use my iPod as a portable hard drive? I know it's got to be simple, but like I said, I can be a moron at times.

in itunes there is a preference setting somewhere...i don't know off-hand since i don't have my own ipod...but from what i remember using one before it was in itunes that i had to change that setting.

Ah. OK. For the benefit of anyone who searches for this in the future:

Select iPod in iTunes source list
Click the little iPod button down by the equalizer
Select "Use as hard drive"

Kind of roundabout, but I guess it works...

Once you set it up as a Hard Drive, you can just drag and drop items onto your iPod's icon

can you drag songs onto it and back off? or do you need one of those programs..if so, which program is good?...I plan on doing a clean install and it would be great to back everything to the pod instead of burning cd's...
