I was on the Apple Store site checking out the new DLO HomeDock Deluxe and noticed Apple's AV Connection Kit is no longer listed in the "Accessories" section (although, you can still search for it specifically and buy it).
Perhaps the standard $99 AV Connection Kit is EOL'd and a new kit is on the way with on-screen software built-in.
