iPod Backup to CD or DVD

I have a 5gb iPod and I have a small probelm. My iBook which held all my music needs disk sapce. So I had to delete all my music, which is ok since my iPod has the music on it. I would like to backup my iPod music to a CD or a DVD since it is teh only copy of teh music fiel I have. I have 2gb of music on my iPod, some of this music was copied off CDs which is now either broken or badly scratched.

That is why I want to backup my music. Now I would rather burn the Music onto multiple CDs because they are far more cheaper. But how can I get the Music off my iPod so I can burn it? My Dad's G4 had a 20x CD-RW drive and a DVD-RW drive so I need to get the AAC and MP3 file to that computer. If I plug in my iPod to my Dad's G4 will iTunes delete the music? I do not want to lose the muisc.

If there is a simple way to copy my 5gb iPod's Music (2.0 gigs of it) to a G4 for archiving pleae tell me.

"iTunes Viewer" is not worth a 2MB download.

This one is 0.032MB (or 32KB).

If you plug in your iPod to any other computer, the computer will keep its music, as long as you have your iPod set to manual updates.

Install the software on the computer you want to transfer the iPod contents to. Then transfer.

Grab a copy of Toast and burn the music appropriately through the application.

Ok, cool thanks! Now iTunes says that the iPod updates the songs manualy, so i guess that setting is applied to my iPod itself. Now I will have my music backed up safley yay! Also If I were to back it up to a DVD, would it play the songs or would it be simply to back up the files themselves? Thanks a lot

Couldn't you just plug the iPod into your computer, and from iTunes select the songs you want and click "burn"? Never tried it, so I'm not sure.

Well I would but I feared that my G4 would delete all of its iTunes songs and my iPod songs. The scripts worked fine though. Thanks everyone!
