the ipod touch battery life is suppose to last about 20 hours ish correct?

well how come everytime i listen to my ipod in school, i'd say 4-6 hours tops, it will start to sy there is only 20% battery life left?

Well, first of all 20 hours is with the screen off - having that backlight on will chew through your battery in no time. As will wifi. ;)
 
Apple's tech specs say 22 hours of audio or 5 hours of video. If your touch is only getting 4-6 hours for the first 80% of the battery, you might have a lemon. I would call Apple Support or take it in.
 
a lemon is a rare case in wich your ipod is defective in some sort of way in your case i cant hold a charge for longer then 4-6 hours when the recomended time is 22 for audio and 5 for video
 
it was 22 hours whwen i firstg got it

but does the battery degenerate overtime
