i have software 1.3 for my ipod. the battery meter is a 4 step meter.

i saw the new version 2.1 battery meter.
it is one solid bar.

does the new battery meter move down a little at a time, or at 4 steps, just like the old one?

in other words, is the new one just cosmetic or is actually functional?

i prefer to think of it as the fact that i am the only 16 year old kid that i know who has one! :D (plus, it rhymed, so i thought it worked haha)

I have the original 5gig one, and it's been doing a real good job of pissing me off lately. If I don't recharge it every 2 days, it dies on me- even if the battery meter shows 2-3 bars- it will die. It especially loves konking out first then in the morning when I'm on my way to work. I use it for about 2 hours a day, so we're talking 4 hours lifetime? I updated the firmware but it did nothing at all to help.

I still have insurance on it, so I think I'll just have an "accident" or something...

No it moves down a little at at time...But sometimes its not even accurate. So I dont even use it. I just plug it in every other day. LOL

Has anyone had odd experiences with the battery meter and recharge rate with 2.1? My iPod takes about 12 hours ro recharge, and my gf's take the same amt., but the meter shows empty..!

I have no such issues with the new firmware. Battery charges the same as before. i do like the new meter.
