I'm looking to buy an older 160GB classic iPod that I found online. The price is very good and the product seems to be in good condition. The only thing I cannot be sure of is the battery life. It's an old device so battery most definately isn't what it used to be. The seller says it's good, but that's not always true.

Is there anyway to change the battery with a new one?

If the battery life is less than 50% of its original capacity then Apple charge 55 euros to replace the iPod regardless of its age or warranty status

Or you could buy a decent replacement battery for about 15 euros, but iPod Classics are known to be difficult to open without damaging the casing

I'm not gonna give Apple 50€ for this, I'm sure I can find cheaper solutions if necessarry. I wasn't sure if it was possible to change it. With all these non upgradable devices lately, i wasn't sure about the iPod classic. I hope it won't be the case to change the battery.

Its not soldered in so its easy to replace once you've opened it, iPod Classics don't usually have battery problems if they've been looked after anyway, I refurbish a few a week and have never had issues
