So... I have a 160GB classic, got in 2009. A couple of months ago I went to use it, and when I slid the hold switched off, nothing happened.

.......:(......
I was wondering if, anybody knows where I can get the hold switched fixed for a cheaper price than Apple? I actually haven't been to the Apple :apple: Store yet to see how much it is but I assume it is at least a $100.

Unfortunately, it's difficult to fix if the switch (on the logic board) itself is broken. If the switch and the hold toggle (the part you see) are disengaged, that's an easy fix, but it's rare that this happens. In short, you'll just have to deal with not having a hold switch.

Providing you can get the iPod open this should be an easy and cheap fix, around $10 for a decent opening tool (the Isesamo) and another $10 for the headphone jack/hold switch assembly. This is held onto the logic board with a small clip
