Here is a question for mostly the programmers out there.

I think it would be really cool if there was an emulator for both the iPod Touch, and iPhone that mimicked the iPod Classic. the screen would be the same size, as would the click wheel. It could be available through cydia just like the gba emulator.

if there is an existing one, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know. This is something i wanted since i first got my iPod touch

the emulator could look like this

but it would be nice to have something looking more like the classic than this.

a mod like this would probably involve a LOT of work and altering the OS which I don't think developers would care to do nor have time to do unfortunately for you.... so yeh sorry to be bearer of bad news

I've actually thought about this too, and think it'd be a very cool thing. I don't even see why it would need any seriously extensive OS revamping. Just open this like a program, not so it's permanently like this - just when you open this app. There's an alternative media app for jailbroken ipods/iphones that pulls from the stock library but uses a different interface, IIRC - shouldn't be too hard to do this....

Maybe one day...

I was thinking about how cool that would be just a few days ago. I mean, the third-gen iPod nano is smaller than the screen on the iPod touch. :p

I wonder if the iPhone SDK has any way of communicating with what the user has in the iPod apps so that this could be an official app on the App Store.

Re: emulator

I understand I'm bumping a two year thread, but I made an acount just to tell you about this. If you have a jail broken ipod/iphone, go to cydia and add

http://cydia.hacker-pro.net

Then go to search and search "iclassic"

This will come up as "iclassic modded"

Install this and go to the home screen!

It works and its sweet!! Have fun guys!

(If you cant find it one the homescreen, try reinstalling)
