I will ask this again to see if there is a working one, or if any programmer wants to make one. (though it might involve some work)

I think a great selling app would be an iPod classic emulator on the iPod touch. You could get it from the app store, and it would be an alternative to the music, video, and photo app already installed on the iPod touch. It would look like an iPod classic, and also function just like one too.

It could possibly look like this:

IF THERE IS ALREADY ONE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW

and don't tell me "if you like the iPod classic, the get one instead of the touch" because I have heard all that crap before. This would be a cool great selling app, (if it was done right), and It would be nice to have the flash memory. I don't know if iPod classic hard drives still have hang time when switching songs like on my old monochrome iPod, but it would be nice to have a faster flash iPod classic emulator on an iPod touch!

There is bound to be something like that in the Jailbroken community, but I'm not sure about it. As for the normal App Store, one hasn't appeared yet, but the 3.0 SDK allows developers to interact with the Music app, making it possible for this iPod Classic emulator app.

I'm just learning Objective-C, so I can't make it. :D Sounds interesting, though.

The iPod classic uses a similar processor as the iPod touch and therefore it would be very hard to emulate/virtualize it, due to speed. Also, it would go against the App Store policies. I highly doubt this will ever happen; an original iPod emulator is more likely, but still won't happen.

if I was a programmer, i'd make this right away.

This is not something you could ever "make right away". It would take an intense amount of time and effort.

I know this would be very hard to make, but you can see that they have a gba and ps1 emulator for the iPod touch, so this should not be impossible.

and if it goes against the app store policies, they could release it through cydia or installer.

Certainly not impossible to make. I don't think it could literally be a device emulator, but it could emulate (simulate, to be precise) the interface. Seeing as how the iPod Touch has all the same features of the iPod, it's just a matter of presenting them with a different menu interface. I'd try it out if it was available. It looks cute, but I prefer what Apple has going with the official interface.

i mean... you don't have to be a jerk - i think he meant... START making this right away

pretty cool dude but the thing is that if it's made it would only work for jail broken ipod touch.

It wouldn't be that difficult to make if it was a skin instead of a emulator type app. Who knows maybe there is a secret feature yet to be unlocked that allows you to make skins for the touch.
