iPod Classic Not Appearing in iTunes (El Capitan)

Here's the dilemma. I have music on iTunes (12.2.1). I want to sync said iTunes music to my iPod Classic. About five months back, my iPod used to work perfectly fine (on Yosemite). However, when I tried syncing the other day, the iPod would not appear in iTunes. It would show up on the desktop, meaning the system recognised its existence, but despite numerous app and system restarts, iTunes would still not recognise the device.

Any ideas as to what's up? Solutions? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

File a bug report with Apple and wait. This is beta software so things like this are bound to happen.

Because your title says El Capitan, which isn't out until the fall. The versions out right now are developer and public beta versions. It is not finished software.
