which one would be better for music over the next few years. i already have a 4th gen 8gb touch but it hasa few bugs like earpod remote not working.

If music only, the classic stores a lot more. Can you still get one? If a touch, I would go with a 64GB 5th (if you can find a 64GB), as it is more useful for anything else. (better camera, apps, etc.). It looks Apple is letting all of the Touch line die out. I have a 5th 32GB like it a lot. (I do not have a smartphone.)

i alreeady have an i phone 4 and 20 ipods so maybe a classic

I have both. They are quite different. For me, straight out of the headphone jack, the 7th gen classic is a bit more analytical sounding and the 4th gen touch is a bit warmer and more musical. The classic has more storage, better battery life. The touch as a better user interface in regard to creating playlists on the device itself and it is a bit more pleasant to use.
If I had to choose only one, it would be the touch, with the only downside Being that it would require more frequent syncs to update the music on it.

Cheers

What is the price difference?

Touch 4th touch pretty much only good for music or video now. Camera is not good unless u wanna take 720 video record. I would say for pure music, the classic is an obvious choice. Touch is 30 hours pure music so i dont know about classic battery.
