I just uploaded my first DVD on an Ipod Classic 7th gen, I used Handbrake and chose the Universal setting because I want the movie to have the ability to be played on an Ipod Touch when I eventually buy one.
On the Classic the movie looks amazing but there is something off in the movement of the actors, it is a slightly faster movement, I can't quite pinpoint it but it is not completely right. I am using Fit To Screen because the letterbox is too small on the Ipod screen. Perhaps the movements being slightly off is due to the Fit To Screen setting, almost like a pan and scan deal that one notices when watching a letterbox movie in standard format on television? It is difficult to judge if these faster movements are present when I view the movie on letterbox (widescreen) because of the smaller size. Another thing I noted is that when the movie is in letterbox there are momentary single line horizontal blips of interference and I'm hoping when I transfer the movie to the Ipod touch and watch it in widescreen those blips don't come with it.
Is there anything in the above that you have encountered and you were able to tweak the settings to fix it?
I would like to upload my entire DVD library and have the ability to play them on both the Classic and the Touch without having to convert any movies but ultimately if this quality is just a fact of life for the Classic but watching a movie on a Touch with the universal setting is optimal then I can live with it.
Thanks for your help.
