iPod iPod Classics 30 pin connector Question

I recently received a ipod nano 6th gen for christmas, so I decided to make use out of it through leaving it in my car.. Unfortunatly the aux cable can't charge it or tell it to turn off when I turn my car off.. So I baught an ipod charger/aux/power off all in one thing for my car... unfortunatly the ipod nano has the words thinest ipod cable thingi (30 pin connector) so unfortunatly the adapter doesn't fit (sigh why you no be universal apple)...

So my question... Does the ipod classic 7th gen have the same wider dock connector that the Iphone 4s (which I tested and it worked) has... Either that or is there a 30-pin Male to Female Dock Extender which has a thin male end and a thick female end so that I can connect my slightly wider ipod connector to a thinner ipod nano socket.

Eh, I'm not quite following you there...?

You have a new iPod nano 7:th generation with the new small doc connector (NOT 30-pin) right??
And you bought an old cable with 30-pin connector for your car?

And now you ask if the classic still has the 30-pin connector?? Yes it has. You also ask if there is a connector with a "small" male and a 30-pin big female? Yes there is!

To expound upon Fralle's answer: There are two potential solutions, both sold at the Apple Store; I've provided direct Apple Store links for your convenience.

This one is a small adapter that plugs onto the 30-pin end of your cable, and ends in a Lightning connector for your newer nano. It's $29 as of this writing (Jan 2013).

The other one is the same concept, except that it extends the cable length a little bit. This makes it better for use with thick iPhone/iPod external cases. It's $10 more, however, at $39 (as of Jan 2013).

At the moment I have a Ipod nano (touch) and it's got a 30 pin connector.. BUT it's too thin.. as seen by this ascii drawing:

Does the nano you have look like this?

This was the last nano to use the 30-pin dock connector, and any standard 30-pin cable or dock connector should theoretically fit.

That said, what may be contributing to your problems is this particular generation's form factor. It was designed more as a clip-on, wearable player, and not easily adapted for auto use.

If we may ask, what is the brand and/or model of the auto adapter you're trying to use? A picture may help here, too.

it fits in my iphone and not the nano (and yes, thats the nano)
