Ipod Controls on Lock Screen

I've found that when I'm listening to music and double-click the home button to get to the ipod function on the lock screen, the controls are very unresponsive. I have to wait a few seconds before my touching the controls will do anything. Anyone else experience this problem?

That has never been a problem for me, and I use that feature all the time when I'm driving.
