I am trying to find one for my daughter for her birthday.
She's going to be 12 & I don't want to drop a lot of money on what she will probably loose.
I've seen good deals on craigslist and ebay but I am hesitant about them.

I don't care if it's 1-4Gb Nano because who needs 1k songs! We are pretty selective about her listening habits anyway.

So here's what I got:
Apple store 4GB $149 refurb + warranty = $161

Mac Mall
2GB $144 + free charger, case, fm tuner, w/ apple warranty =$200

Do I need a warranty, what's the consensis?
Any great deals out there?
Brenda

I'd go for the 4gb from Apple, personally. Also, I wouldn't get the warranty. It comes standard with a year's warranty anyway.

im assuming the 4gb is nano 1st gen and the 2gb is nano 2nd gen. If thats the case, personally I would take the 2gb drop, Ive got a 4gb 2nd gen nano and to be honest I havent used more than 500megs worth of the songs on it to date.

the 2nd gen will have more "style points" too.

I wouldnt bother with the warranty either

well it depends id go with the 4 gig but that is because i have alot of music, however if the one from macmall is the new 2nd generation id go with it if i didnt have as much music.
