My mother is disabled from the neck down. She listens to audiobooks all day long on her iPod, which she can control with a chin device. She has a docking station in her living room and one in her bedroom. When she moves from one room to another, she has her carers move the iPod from one docking station to the other. One of them just stopped working and she has asked me to find a replacement.

I use SlimServer in my home to stream music to my two Squeezebox players. I know also of the Sonos device that can do the same sort of thing, but both of these are expensive.

Is there some way I could set up a docking station or playback device in two rooms and have it controlled from a central location? Her PC laptop is also in the living room, so speakers hooked up to that and iTunes could work. Could playback be streamed to another device in the bedroom at the same time? If so, could playback be streamed to TWO such devices? I ask that just in case her chin controller cannot be set up to control iTunes on her PC laptop.

Thanks
