iPod touch iPod doesn't charged when Macbook pro lid is closed

Hey everybody,
I have a new i7 Macbook Pro and my GF has a 2008 Macbook (unibody aluminum, looks just like mine except doesn't say pro). My 2G touch charges when her laptop is closed, but not when mine is closed. Are there any settings that I need to change or something? Her computer does go to sleep when closed.

IIRC, if you have the iPod plugged in before you close the lid and system goes into sleep, then it will continue to charge. If you plug it in when the system is already asleep, then it will not charge. This is normal behavior for USB ports.
