So I got one of the new Ipods for my birthday. It's 30GB video ipod. Well I installed the software and pluged in the ipod but it doesn't show up anywhere on my computer and the ipod screen just says "Do not disconnect" it's been this way for about an hour. Does anyone have a clue why it's doing this or how to fix it?

Does iTunes not recognise it either? Maybe pull it out, reset it (hold down the middle button and the top of the click wheel) and plug it back in whilst iTunes is open. :)

Shuffle won't show up on desktop or in iTunes

My new shuffle won't show up on my eMac desk top or in iTunes. The battery charged through the port, but nothing mounts. :-(

The store I bought it from won't make exchanges until Wednesday. Anybody got any other ideas.

The iPod stuff at Apple support (unlike some other areas they cover!) is actually pretty good. A few variations on the theme:

iPod doesn't appear in iTunes or on the Mac desktop
iPod appears on the Mac OS X desktop but not in iTunes
iPod does not appear in iPod Updater or iTunes in Mac OS X

What OS version are you running? The 10.4.3 update included some bug fixes for shuffle (and other FAT volume) mounting problems. Also, are you running a recent version of iTunes?

If you're up to date, you may want to try a reset.
