iPOD doesn't sync after PB wakes from sleep

When I put my iPod into the dock it nicely syncs with my PB. If I leave it in the dock and wake my PB from sleep, the iPOD shows the do not disconnect screen forever and never syncs.
I have to start isync manually, the iPOD mounts on the desktop, I eject it manually and only then it shows the normal screen and allows me to disconnect it from the screen.

This is annoying! Anybody knows a fix?

PB G4 1,5GHz, OS 10.3.4, 4G iPOD 40GB, iSync 1.5, all the newest software updates.
