iPod touch Ipod Earphones

Last February I purchased a new Ipod Touch5 which included Apple earphones at the Apple Store. Well, the earphones stopped working the other day, so, are they covered under the 1 year Apple Guarantee??

Also last month I purchsed Applecare Plus for my Ipod Touch 5, so, are they also covered under my Applecare Plus Plan??

My earphones also stopped working, when I went to the apple store to buy a new pair they told me that the EarPods that come with the touch are covered by the 1 year guarantee and that I could make a genius appointment to get them replaced.
