I've got a 3rd gen iPod, all the software is up to date, but when I update it through itunes, it always freezes after a little bit. I know it used to do that when I was copying songs from ipod to computer, but never vice versa. I don't know if I should reset it, and start again.. because what if the problem persists, and then instead of being -30 songs or so, I'll be -1500.

Any help?
Thanks.

I'd reset it.

That way you'll know if you're dealing with a software or hardware problem.

If it's a hardware problem then you can go get a new shiny iPod.

Wish my 4th Gen would die, then I'd have an excuse to get a new one.

haha, that's the thing. i don't have the money to get a new one... therefore I don't want to reset for fear I will need a new one... I'm kinda hoping that's my last resort. Any other way to test it?

It stalled again today, and so I decided to reset, kind of knowing that it would not work, I'd realize it was toast, and then I'd move on with my life. However, much to my surprise, it reloaded all the songs perfectly. Excellent news.
