iPod iPod G3 USB2 Charging

Hello,
Just a quick question but am I right in that you cannot charge a G3 iPod using the USB2 cable.

Reason being is that I have just bought one for work and it doesn't seem to work .

You are correct.

You can sync a 3G ipod with USB or Firewire, but can only charge it with Firewire.

Thanks. Looks like I've bought the wrong cable.

Will just have to buy a g5
