iPod Hi-Fi Mod: Building in AirTunes

Hey everyone,

So, I love my iPod Hi-Fi, but everyone knows that Apple should have built AirTunes into it. Connecting an AirPort Express all the time is just unwieldy, not to mention inelegant and unsightly.

I want to mod my Hi-Fi to build in the necessary components of an AirPort Express to make this missing feature happen. I turn to you, Greater Apple Community, to help me. Where should I start? Neither of these gadgets even has an exposed screw, and I want everything to look seamless when I'm through. Further, I have no technical knowledge of how any of this works, and I can't find any teardown photos of either piece to give me an idea of if this is even feasible - I fear the Hi-Fi doesn't have much empty space.

So, please help! If this works, think of what a favor we'll be doing the Mac Community.

My first thought would be to try and fit the airport express inside the battery compartment. IIRC the hifi takes 6 D battery which is a lot of room to play with.
