iPod is not eligible for this update

I'm trying to downgrade my iPod 2G to 3.1.3, following this: http://www.iphonehacks.com/2010/07/how-to-downgrade-iphone-3g-from-ios-4-to-iphone-os-3-1-3.html

I downloaded iPod2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw, but it says that iPod is not eligible for the update.

Tried modifiying /private/etc/hosts, but doesn't work (got this from googling). Anyone else having a problem? Is it just recently Apple stopped signing 3.1.3?

I don't think Apple is signing 3.1.3 for iPod Touch 2g anymore... that was quite a few updates ago. Only signing for iPT 1 and original iPhone.

Got SHSH blobs for iOS 3.1.3? If no, then you can't downgrade.

You mean doing this: http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/2010/05/01/save-shsh-blobs-autoshsh/ before I upgrade to iOS 4? No.. Is that the only way?

If you didn't get the SHSH blobs before upgrading from 3.1.3 than it's a no go. Sorry man.
