iPod touch iPod/iTunes won't let me download 3.0 software?

I purchased the 3.0 software update for my iPod Touch, and for some reason, it won't finish downloading and sync to my iPod.

On the left hand menu, it still says "1" next to downloads and the arrow is spinning, but when I click on downloads, it just shows the update. No downloading bar or anything. It won't let me resume or delete it.

Just cancel the download and start fresh?

if you use the same iTunes account, you won't have to pay for it again.

You do realize you were trying to download it Christmas day, when there's thousands, if not tens of thousands of other people, trying to get their iPhone's activated, their iTunes accounts created, etc. all on Apple's servers? I would expect the activation/OS update servers to become less overloaded come New Year's Day, but uptime between Christmas Day and New Year's is iffy.

call Apple. I had this problem also and I couldn't download it for 2 days. I guess what happens is you iTunes gets backed up, so the guy over the phone had me do stuff. I downloaded a free app and at the same time downloaded the 3.0 updated or something like that.
