I have an iBook. my buddy has an ipod where he has his collection, which he previously stored on his xp desktop. I guess he uses itunes for xp, but I don't know.

Anyway, he has a few songs that I would like to transfer to my ibook? Ethics aside, how do I do this? Anything special I need?

Thanks.

There's a number of programs to run on your Mac to upload songs from an iPod, but I'm not sure that plugging an iPod formatted for Windows into a Mac wouldn't maybe reset or overwrite the Windows iPod, or that the programs would work between platforms.

However, the iPod Lounge is probably a good place to look for such programs, and get more information about them.

Really, it's probably going to be simpler to use some alternate transfer medium, like a thumbdrive, flash memory card, or burned CD to get those files from his computer to yours.
