My cousin's friend's iPod mini is no longer being recognized by her computer. She is using a Dell running Windows XP. They also tried it on my cousin's iBook, but that does not recognize it either. It's running on USB by the way. Any ideas? Thanks!

Does it otherwise work normally? Have you tried using the iPod Software Updater to restore the firmware? Sometimes this app is better at finding iPods than iTunes or Explorer/Finder.
Yea, try updating the software. My friend also has a Windows computer and her iPod Mini wasn't working and then when she updated the software it started working again.
