iPod iPod mini drive not recognised in windows explorer

i only have had this problem since i upgraded the software on my ipod, and now i wished i hadnt.

the ipod displays fine in itunes, but only shows up in windows explorer while it is charging or being updated (for very limited amount of time).

i use my iPod as a usb drive, so can carry my work on it; use one device rather than two. at thbis moment i have to be really quick to get work on and off, before the computer says that there is no drive e:

is this a new strategy apple are taking? as my friends with a nano and a 5th gen are having the same problem.\is it a bug in the new software? in either case i hope that they sort it. i am considering updated my iPod, i may choose a Zen instead if dont have access to the drive!

Have you reset the iPod?

Have you reformatted the iPod?

Why haven't you gone to the iPod 101 website?

why are you using windows?

I have no problems with the latest software on any computers I use.

which includes two powerbooks and a powermac

Have you Enabled Disk Usage in the iPod Preferences within iTunes?

i have reset it and it didnt work

i am using windows cos i am a poor student who cannot afford a mac with a decent spec (eventhough i want one)- windows will do for the time being.

i will try enable disk use.
