Bought this New on release day February 2004 comes complete with everything in perfect condition a good specimen of Apple

Hell yeah. I use one of these almost every day, with a 256GB CF card. The Minis are the best iPods IMO, (though the 3rd gen iPod is my personal favorite). They're the easiest to upgrade, native CompactFlash. They have a better DAC than the 5th and 6\7th gens, and they're small—good battery life. Just a great no-nonsense DAP. Especially paired with RockBox, I think they're the most practical iPod. I'm always surprised everyone is so obsessed with the 5.5 gens. These are objectively better. You don't need a color screen for music.
