I have killed my nano and would like any advice as to the best place to buy cheap or refurbished spare parts (battery, screen, logic board - sigh - I know!!!). Preferably in the UK.

You can try cnn.cn or ifixit.com. Screens and batteries are pretty cheap, but the logic board is going to set you back a good bit. From iFixit, the prices range from $80 (55GBP) for a 2GB or $120 (83GBP) for a 8GB. Probably better off finding a refurb iPod from Apple. They have the new 8GB 4th Gen. Nanos for $129 (90GBP). You can also try finding parts on eBay.
