My younger brother is getting a new nano, maybe later today. The question is, black or white? White looks fine and has a shorter wait time, but haven't seen a black in person. I've heard their really shiny and much prettier than the white. I also think it would look better with my iPod 4G Color! :D

Anyone seen both in person?

I've seen them both and the black is certainly more striking, but some have complained of scratches being more visible.

Tons of other threads have already covered this, especially with the issue with scratches.

To put it short, get a case with the nano regardless of which color you buy. Black will scrate nastily. White isn't as noticeable on scratches. But the black looks nicer for the first 15 minutes when you take it out of the box.

???

Sorry! Did a search, didn't see anything obvious (must not have looked hard enough). I'm getting him a case as his birthday present from me (well 5 cases, actually). Thanks for the advice, I'll pass the info on to him.

It's like car paint. Black is very stricking as long as its surface is blemish free. Like car paint, Black nano will show you more fine scratches than white one. Since nano's exterior is plastic, maybe plastic polish may work to hide the scratches (there is a plastic polish for auto detailing).

What I determined on another forum with PSP (should be about the same with iPod), is that black shows fingerprints more easily, and white shows dirt/dust more.

Black is not shiny at all.(don't be fooled by picture). And as I always say, see it before you buy it
