If Creative sues over this, it's nothing but a way to try to compensate for Creative's inability to compete in the marketplace. I'm sure Creative benefits more from the name similarity than Apple does.

Daveway is right, nano is a unit of measurement and as such cannot be registered so Creative have no legal means on that front, the may be able to go after Apple for trading on the back of an existing product but then who knew there was a Zen nano anyway? Creative have so many overlapping and confusing product lines it wouldn't surprise me to find they have a "Creative Zen ipod" somewhere hidden in the catalogue.

It amazes me that companies still think the best way to take on the iPod is to release lots of different products with confusing UI's, buttons all over the place and features nobody ever use.

LOL I didn't even know about the existence of the Zen Nano till I read in the front pages of ilounge of a possible creative lawsuit over the ipod nano. lol How Ironic.

I can see it this x-mas. A daughter talking to her parents wanting a iPod nano. The parents walk into best buy saying the want the ugh... a nano so they get the zen nano. Creative can mostly benifit from this.

If Creative sues, it will be to generate publicity and consumer awareness for thier product. Their best bet is to try and put out the message "Apple copied us."

I don't think Apple's in legal trouble over this, but I'd love to know what their reasoning was for choosing 'Nano.'

That is, if Creative stays in business long enough to do anything about it.

Have you been to their website? They've got a bewildering number of MP3 product lines- 23 different models many of which seem to overlap each other in some way.

Its like the mac product lines pre-Jobs- I remember getting my 1st mac- do i get the 5500, 6500 or the 4400??!!

You never use an equalizer or FM radio? Intriguing. And the Zen Nano's three buttons (1 for on/off, 2 for volume control) aren't "all over the place." I'm surprised no one has mentioned affordability - I guess that would mean acknowledging that it's less than half the price of an iPod Nano.
