Hello,

I'm running OS X 10.4.2 on a Power Mac G4 MDD Dual 1 GHz, 1.25GB RAM. I've got a Startech 6-port USB 2.0 card in one of the PCI slots (4 external + 2 internal) and it's been working great so far with a memory card reader, an iPod shuffle, a printer, etc. I've never had any problems with it (including with the iPod shuffle), but I just got an iPod nano and it seems to disagree with the card. The nano works fine in my PowerBook G4 12" (1.5GHz), and it also works fine from the PowerMac's built-in USB 1.1 port, but I can't get it to work with the USB 2 card (even if it's the only device plugged into the card).

What happens when I connect it is the Finder suddenly stops and beachballs (but all other apps continue working). iTunes beachballs as well, and System Profiler works fine, but it beachballs when I try to view the USB bus. Checking the system log, it says there's an I/O error (I could have guessed as much). Does anyone have any ideas? There are no firmware updates for the card, btw.

Thanks so much!
