I just bought a brand new 3rd gen. nano.
it's great, except for one little problem:

I wanted to test the video out on it and when I went to
video settings, it wouldn't switch from "off" to "on" or even to "ask"

anybody have any suggestions?

I'm thinking about just getting it exchanged.

They all do that. You need to have Apple special $50 cables to get the video out to unlock. It wont switch to on or ask without the Apple cable being plugged in

That's not strictly true - if you have a universal dock with the s-video out socket that works too.

dagnabbit - wouldn't work with my $40 Monster Cable either ..I'm as annoyed as those people who have to re-pay for iPod games :p
