iPod Photo...will my old dock work?

I'm getting ready to buy my father an iPod Photo for Fathers Day and I was just wondering if the dock to my 3G iPod will work with it... Anyone know? My iMac doesn't have USB 2.0, so I was hoping he could just use my dock/Firewire cable to sync the thing. Any help would be appreciated!!

I am fairly sure the dock connector is the same.
