I recently sent a repair request to Apple because my battery only lasts about 3 1/2 hours on my iPod (I have Applecare). I have received the box that I use to ship my iPod, and on the shipping label, it says Select One:

CIP Unopened Box Diagnostic Defective

What does "CIP" stand for? I think either that or "Diagnostic" is the one I need to check.

Thanks.

I believe it's Customer Installable Parts. Not sure why that would be an option on something you're sending to them...

CIP does, in fact, stand for Customer Installable Part and Apple does consider an ipod a CIP. If you are returning an ipod for repair, you should check this box. I think the defective selection is if you are returning a new ipod that never worked.

I just waited 1/2 hour on hold for that answer! I hope it helps someone else!
