iPod iPod Restarts After Forcing Disk Mode

My iPod is stuck on the Apple logo - I Googled around and found that to fix this, I force it into disk mode and restore it. I can force it into disk mode fine, but then when I plug it in, the iPod flashes "Do Not Disconnect" for a mere second before restarting and hanging on the Apple logo again. Any ideas? Thanks.
 
I let the battery die, gave it a little charge, and presto, it came back to life. Who knows? I think I'll do a restore while I can.
