iPod touch iPod showing a lot of unread email

i have a problem with my iPod touch. It keeps showing up a lot of unread email. I have restarted it a couple of times, deleted my gmail account on it and put it back on. Always the same number. I did not have that much email in my lifetime. And gmail on my computer doesn't show any unread email.

Because of such a huge number it doesn't even show the number of unread email on homescreen.

Does anyone know the solution for this?

How did you get that messageicon on the top? Is your ipod touch jailbreaked?

ok you actually have to go and mark all of them to delete. because your iPods email is a lil bit different so if you don't read or delete all thise emails on the iPod itself, it will still have that very large number.

it must be because at the bottom there is no pages
