iPod iPod Shuffle Dock Speed (usb 2.0?)

Hey, does anyone know about the dock for the iPod shuffle? I have read that it is overpriced..., but since Santa is coming to town I was thinking I might put it on the list.

I have a g5 iMac, and I usually connect the shuffle to the usb port on the keyboard. I know that is a 1.1 port. When I transfer a lot of music, I connect to the 2.0 port on the back of the computer.

ANYWAY, I am wondering if the dock is usb 2.0. That is, will there be losses in the cable between the iPod and the back of the iMac?
-Will the ipod-->dock-->imac speed be the same as ipod-->imac?
If no,
-Will the ipod-->dock-->imac speed be faster than ipod-->keyboard port-->imac ?

Yeah, so maybe $30 for the dock is too much...

I found a 3 ft usb 2.0 cable for $2.99 with free shipping @ PCMicroStore.
