So Apple finally launched their Back-to-School deal (yay!) and I was wondering..how does it work exactly.

I know you can get up to $199 towards an iPod (8GB iPod Touch) but what if I choose to get the free $69 iPod Shuffle - will I get the remainder ~$130 to go toward my laptop?

From the Terms and Conditions:

REBATE AMOUNTS: The rebate amount, up to $199, is determined by the following table but will not exceed the list price of the iPod, excluding tax, on the U.S. Apple Online Store

The table shows that only the 4GB shuffles ($79/$99) are eligible for the promo. So if you buy a $79 shuffle when you buy your Mac, they'll mail you a check back for $79.

No.

You pay full price for the iPod, when you buy your Mac, and then Apple sends you a check back for the full price that you paid for the iPod.

The only shuffles they show as eligible for the promotion are the 4GB models. So you pay $79 (or $99, if you want the stainless steel model), and then you get a check back for whatever you paid.

Oh so then obviously it's way more worth it to get the iPod touch.
