iPod iPod Shuffle Probem

Hey guys
Yesterday when i tried to turn on my shuffle i got the blinking green and orange lights, meaning an error. I went to the apple website and read through their trouble shooting but nothing worked. I reset it, reinstalled iTunes and the iPod software and as a final resort tried to restore it which wouldnt work because I got a Disk Write failed error and also a Firmware update error when i was instaling it.Should i send it into apple or does anyone know what might fix it . Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

does it appear as a drive? you could try formatting it with Disk Utility, then the Restore again. The "blinking lights of death" are not a terribly good sign however.

It appears as a disc drive but it wont let me format it.

not even the head volume "Apple iPod Media"? What about running repair under first aid?
