I have an older iPod Shuffle 1GB that shows most of the space is now taken up by other. I've tried to restore but get an error message that the iPod cannot be found, even though it clearly is found since I'm in the update screen. The software is up to date on both the iPod and my Mac. This is an older iPod that's been great and is probably 8 or 9 years old. Is the memory just old and corrupting or is there something I can do to get back the memory?

Which generation is your iPod?

I would try flashing it from a different computer as a first step.
