i've got a 2nd generation 10GB ipod. it seems to work great except that it skips when playing aiff files. it seems like it pauses for a second or two to catch it's breath and then begins playing again...

any ideas or thoughts on whether or not this is normal? some of my library...although not much, needs to stay native aiff.

You'll just have to live w/ it. I was DJing a wedding and when I ripped the cd's I didn't have time to let it compress so I just ripped it native AIFF and had the same problem. It does it w/ large wav's too. Its just that the iPod's memory isn't large enough to hold a entire song and has to reload whats left of the song into memory and thats when the skip comes in. I think Apple could fix this w/ better memory management, but what do I know?

so it's sort of a cache issue then? seems like i read something along those lines on the support section of apple's site after i posted last night.

oh well...at least it appears to work for aac files.

thanks.
