i'm assisting a friend who along with me are survivors of Katrina. The two things he saved from the storm was his passport and iPod. He now has a new computer (PC) and needs to set up iTunes to sync with the saved iPod. How should he go about doing this? He no longer has the CD's (destroyed) that he used to put on the iPod and only has a few purchased songs from ITMS.

Enable hidden items on the PC (through the Tools menu, Folder Options or something, I forget, sorry  ), plug the iPod in, say no to letting it sync with the new hard drive, enable disk usage in the iTunes preferences (under the iPod section) and then navigate to the iPod in Explorer. All music should now be visible and retrievable. :)

Sorry if this is completely wrong, it's been a while for me and PCs.
