i bought this really nice stereo equipmant and when i plugged the ipod to it the sound wasn't as great as i expected. so i tryed listening to the ipod with the headphones and i noticed that even with the maximum volume the sound was pretty low. so, is the ipod the problem or is it the songs? if so, how can i fix it?

You could check if your iPod is set to limit the volume. If it is, you can change it by selecting 'Volume Limit' from the 'Settings' menu. Also, which iPod do you have? If it is an old one, it may just have a problem, or depending on where you live, some countries have laws that force audio devices to stay below a certain volume.

Do you have sound levels or volume set low on the files you encoded to go onto your iPod ? Some files are louder than others. It all depends on how you encoded it!

Is Sound-check enabled ?
